About Me

Tokyo Skytree: 2024

Throughout my studies, I have honed my ability to produce high quality copy across a range of content styles. I have had work published in two university publications: On the Record, and Verse Magazine. I have interned with Zoos SA, where I got to shadow the Communications and Public Relations Managers, and create an Instagram reel promoting a conservation app. I enjoy creating content for media, and I hope to find challenging opportunities that will allow me to continue developing this skill set.

If I were to exemplify my ability to handle challenging situations, I would offer you two experiences:

  1. Working as a Service Supervisor at a grocery store during the 2021 COVID lockdowns/panic buying. I learnt a lot about recognising hardship or stress in others and using empathy to deescalate tense situations.  In this time, I had to problem solve to help families meet their needs, while respecting product restrictions and shortages.

  2. Spending a semester abroad. In 2022, I moved to the opposite side of the world… entirely by myself. It continues to be the greatest growth experience I’ve had the privilege of tackling. It did, however, take a lot to leave every safety net behind, build up an entirely new social network, and get very comfortable depending on myself.

Both situations came with their unique sets of crises, and I am a far stronger, happier person for them. Now, the idea of stepping out of my comfort zone is incredibly exciting.

Hey there!

I’m Kate, a Communications and Media/English Literature student from the University of South Australia.

I spend my free time doing three things:

1.     Consuming any and all storytelling I can get my hands on (books, film, tv and music are synonymous with oxygen for me).

2.     Planning holidays I may or may not take. (Even if I just returned from a trip. Even if my bank account is laughing at me).

3.     Drinking tea. (Yes, this deserves its own category, because what is a uni student without a serious caffeine addiction?)
