KAROONDA FARM FAIR REVAMP EVENT TO LAUNCH THE PERFECT FAMILY FARM SHOW

A new planning committee has taken over Karoonda Farm Fair, and the event is set to return better than ever this April 5th and 6th at Karoonda Oval.
Boasting a free kids tent, over 50 competitions for all age groups, and many farm animals, Karoonda Farm Fair is hopeful about the opportunity to bring in young families from the Murraylands and Adelaide regions.
“Young families bring a lot of potential for the event to grow,” said Caroline Phillips, Mayor of Karoonda.
The fair has seen a lot of changes in the 30+ years it has been running, evolving from a sheep fair for local farmer workers into an agricultural and general interest market filled with games, music and entertainment. As the event grows, so does community involvement and, in return, community advancement.
“The event is a huge economic generator for the local district,” explained Phillips. “[it] is all about income into local businesses… community groups and schools.” In recent years, the committee has been able to fund community goals, including purchasing new light towers for the local football club.
Only a 2-hour drive from Adelaide, there is no better way to support local businesses than by having a fun family day out of the city. From general interest market stalls, a high-energy showdown between professional sheep shearers, and one of South Australia’s biggest local designer fashion shows, there will be something for everyone this April.
