The Rural City of Murray Bridge Launch Market Day Festival to Celebrate the Reopening of Sturt Reserve Playground

From 12pm on January 27, games, rides, and market stalls will overtake Sturt Reserve to celebrate the end of the playground’s extended closure after the Riverland floods of 2022-23.

“Our community has been waiting for the reopening of Sturt Reserve playground for too long,’ said Vanessa Leigh, Program Manager at The Rural City of Murray Bridge. “A lot of hard work has gone into getting the playground back up to safety standards. We would be remiss not to celebrate the event with a bang.”

“Whether you have young kids or not, the playground has been the heart of Sturt Reserve for decades,” said Wayne Thorley, Mayor of The Murray Bridge Council. “It means a lot to our town, and it will be fantastic to see our community come together to celebrate an exciting return to normalcy after of the devastation of the Riverland floods.”

The free event will run until 8pm, and caters to all ages, with bouncy castles for younger kids to high-speed fair rides for older attendees. There will be classic fair games, artesian market stalls, and a wide range of food.
